Following lengthy and stringent reviews the Government of Canada has purchased from QMTI (Quantum Mechanical Technology Inc) our GP15 series of equipment. QMTI is now registered as a supplier to the Federal government of Canada.
The placement of our GP equipment in the NRC (National Research Council) facility is to perform ongoing exploration and documentation of the benefits Gentle Processing™ provides in the food chain. The Canadian Government is looking to prevent losses due to early decay, extend shelf life, improve the quality of plant-based proteins, and neutralize the microbes responsible for food borne illnesses. These efforts will help to feed our growing population safely.
The NRC is planning to perform initial testing on Faba Beans and Peas as these are 2 important commodities which play an important role in both farming and food manufacturing. Following GP processing of these pulse crops, they will test the improvement in flavour profiles, nutritional composition, microbial reductions and lowered MRL’s (maximum residue levels). An example of an MRL would be Glyphosate. Just think of the health benefits that either lowering or removal of any herbicide residues from our food chain would accomplish
With the combined efforts of Dr. Meda from the College of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, University of Saskatchewan, Tara Bachynski, Intertek and Sara Lui, Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Center Inc, credible scientific results will set new standards in the field of food safety and nutritional paradigms.
Roughly one-third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year – approximately 1.3 billion tons – gets wasted. Even if just on-fourth of the food currently lost or wasted globally could be saved, it would be enough to feed 870 million hungry people. Food loss and waste also amount to a major squandering of resources, including water, land, energy, labour, and capital, and needlessly produce greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to climate changes. Gentle Processing™ the new green technology which uses no chemicals or solvents will decrease these losses and improve the environmental footprint of food production.
Presently GP technology is being used at RVSF (River Valley Specialty Farms) where they have obtained accreditation of a 5LOG pathogenic reduction in both whole hemp seed and hearts. James Kuhl and his sister Kristen Gray are embraced the challenge and have focused their business model on improving the safety and quality of RTE (ready to eat) commodities in the food industry. Through their marketing efforts of this new processing technology RVSF has been able to secure several additional national and international clients.
The future of the food industry in Canada looks great as the Canadian Government continues to be unsurpassed in their efforts to improve the future of our planet with investment in the health and wellness of the food supply. Gentle Processing™, “nutrition the way nature intended” looks to be the new standard!
